Osun Gov Adeleke Backs Tinubu's 2027 Re-Election at APC Event

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's second-term bid during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14. Adeleke, a chieftain of the Accord Party, argued that Nigeria's challenges cannot be resolved within a single four-year tenure, making continuity in leadership essential.

Adeleke's Case for Tinubu's Second Term

Speaking at the event, Adeleke said the country's reform process requires time and that withdrawing support from the president now would be premature. He described his attendance as a personal decision rooted in the belief that sustained leadership is necessary for national progress.

"We are going to sing and dance all the way to Aso Rock. We must give our father, the president, and the father of this great nation, time for his reforms to work. It is not easy, and four years is not enough," Adeleke stated.

"That is why I am here to throw my weight behind the president because we want action, not too much talk. We do not have time. The work has begun, and I have already started mine," he added.

Call for National Unity Behind Tinubu

The Osun governor urged Nigerians from all regions to rally behind President Tinubu's re-election campaign. He emphasized the need for collective effort to ensure the president completes his agenda.

"From every corner, let us rise and ensure that our president returns for a second term so that he can complete his good work," Adeleke said.

He also called on citizens to continue praying for their leaders, linking the president's success directly to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. "Let us, Nigerians, continue to pray for our leaders. If he succeeds, we all succeed. And I know that we shall get there," he remarked.

Political Significance of Adeleke's Appearance

Adeleke's presence at the APC council inauguration is notable given that he governs Osun State under the Accord Party banner, a rival political party to the ruling APC at the federal level. His public backing of Tinubu signals a cross-party alignment ahead of the 2027 election.

Earlier reports indicated that ChatGPT predicted the APC would likely win Nigeria's 2027 presidential election, citing the opposition coalition but noting the APC's edge due to possible low voter turnout and the Tinubu administration's efforts to stabilise the economy.
