In a significant political development, top figures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have set aside differences to present a united front, vowing to secure a second term for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Unity Rallies Sweep Ibadan Constituencies
The show of solidarity took place on Monday, 12 January 2026, during a series of coordinated unity rallies across Ibadan, the state capital. The events were organized by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in partnership with the Oyo State APC chapter.
The rallies specifically targeted the Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East and Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituencies. This forms a crucial part of a broader 14-Federal Constituency Tour designed to strengthen the party's foundation at the grassroots level ahead of the polls.
Key Figures Pledge Unwavering Support
The gathering featured a powerful lineup of the party's heavyweights. Notable attendees included Senator Teslim Folarin, the Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda in Oyo; Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power; Senators Sharafadeen Alli, Abdulfatai Buhari, and Yunus Akintunde; as well as prominent chieftain and 2027 governorship aspirant, Barrister Akeem Agbaje.
Addressing party supporters, Senator Folarin emphasized that the tour's goal is to rebuild confidence, enhance internal unity, and kickstart mobilization efforts early. He proudly highlighted Oyo State's pivotal role, recalling that it delivered the highest differential votes for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
"Oyo State proved its strength in 2023. In 2027, we are ready to raise the bar and deliver unprecedented votes for President Bola Tinubu," Folarin declared. He acknowledged the demanding nature of the administration's reforms but stressed their necessity for economic stability and long-term growth.
Call for Discipline and Grassroots Focus
Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, the former First Lady of Oyo State, urged leaders and members to maintain discipline and unity, identifying cohesion as the bedrock of the APC's continued dominance in the state.
In his remarks, Minister Adebayo Adelabu commended the peaceful conduct of members and asserted that electoral victory is built on consistent, ward-level engagement. "Our party is solid again and firmly back on its feet. Morale is high, and everyone is motivated to work hard to ensure the President's return for a second term," he stated, advising leaders to prioritize party interests over personal ambitions.
Senator Abdulfatai Buhari pointed to the timeliness of the tour in healing internal rifts. He called for a focus on voter registration and Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), stating that early and disciplined preparation would be decisive for 2027.
Barrister Akeem Agbaje dismissed narratives of a party crisis, asserting, "We are fully united as a party and standing together in support of Asiwaju for a second term," arguing that Tinubu requires another term to cement ongoing national reforms.
The state APC Chairman, Pharm. Olayide Abass, alongside other leaders, called for intensified voter education and coordinated mobilization as the party strategically positions itself for the upcoming electoral battle.
