Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has withdrawn from the Bauchi State governorship race ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a video message released on Sunday night, Pate cited the best interests of the state and the nation as reasons for his decision.
Pate's Statement
Pate expressed regret over any inconvenience his withdrawal may have caused, particularly to supporters and residents who had looked forward to his leadership. He appreciated his supporters across the state and beyond, assuring them of his continued commitment to their aspirations in whatever capacity he serves.
He reaffirmed his dedication to advancing development at both national and state levels, especially in healthcare delivery, with a focus on maternal and child health and critical surgical services.
Appeal to Youths
The minister urged youths to desist from political thuggery, violence, and other social vices, stressing that such actions could undermine their future leadership potential. He called on citizens to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in securing victory across all elective positions in the state during the 2027 elections.
He also appealed to stakeholders and voters to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
PDP Supporters Embrace APM
Following Governor Bala Mohammed's defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied People's Movement (APM), thousands of PDP supporters and loyalists of the governor have taken to the streets of Bauchi to embrace the APM.
Mohammed announced his defection from the PDP on Saturday, where he had served as the party's chairman for about two years. He stated that he left due to circumstances he could not manage but emphasized that he has the party at heart.
The mass movement of PDP supporters to the APM signals a significant shift in the political landscape of Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 elections.
