Air Peace has publicly addressed recent flight delays and cancellations, attributing the disruptions to a series of unrelated operational setbacks that occurred in quick succession. Chief Operating Officer Oluwatoyin Olajide explained that the airline faced multiple challenges, including a false fire alarm, a bird strike, adverse weather, and technical faults, all of which grounded aircraft during the period under review.
Operational Disruptions Detailed
According to Olajide, a false fire alarm forced the airline to ground one aircraft, while a bird strike took another plane out of service for several days. Adverse weather conditions led to diversions and subsequent delays, and separate technical faults required mandatory checks before affected aircraft could be cleared to return to service. Additionally, the airline cited delays in securing aviation fuel at some locations as an extra factor, as reported by Punch.

Safety Remains Top Priority
Olajide emphasized that Air Peace would not rush aircraft back into service merely to meet schedules, regardless of pressure to reduce disruptions. She stated: "Air Peace will never compromise safety in an attempt to keep to a schedule. In Air Peace, safety remains our highest priority."
She clarified that no aircraft would be cleared to fly until the airline's technical teams and relevant safety procedures confirmed it was airworthy. Where weather, technical faults, bird strikes, or any other safety-related factor required a plane to remain grounded, those considerations would always come first.

Beyond addressing the immediate causes, Olajide said Air Peace is taking steps to prevent similar disruptions from having the same impact on passengers going forward. The airline plans to strengthen its contingency measures and enhance communication with passengers when problems arise.
