Rivers APC Hails Tunji-Ojo for Promoting 75,202 Paramilitary Officers
APC Commends Minister for Promoting 75,202 Officers

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Rivers State has publicly applauded the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for authorising the promotion of a massive 75,202 personnel. This significant career advancement affects officers serving across all four paramilitary agencies under the ministry's supervision.

A New Era of Recognition and Motivation

In a statement released on 4 December 2025, the party's spokesperson, Darlington Nwauju, described the promotions as a clear demonstration of the ministry's renewed focus. He stated that the move underscores a commitment to rewarding excellence, fostering professional development, and ensuring equitable treatment within the workplace.

"The Interior Ministry under Dr. Tunji-Ojo's leadership has ensured that all the critical factors that stimulate motivation in any work environment are brought to bear," Nwauju said. He emphasised that this includes recognition, opportunities for growth, and a palpable sense of fairness.

Contrasting a Chaotic Past with a Tech-Driven Present

Nwauju drew a sharp contrast between the current administration's methods and the troubled history of the ministry. He recalled that the ministry was once notorious for its lack of strategic planning and organisational failures, which culminated in disastrous recruitment exercises.

He specifically referenced a tragic incident in 2014 under the PDP-led administration, where an attempt to recruit personnel for the Nigeria Immigration Service turned deadly. Thousands of job seekers were packed into stadiums in cities like Abuja, Port Harcourt, Lagos, and others, leading to a stampede that claimed innocent lives and injured hundreds.

"That incident occurred as a result of an attempted recruitment into the Immigration Service alone," Nwauju noted. "This contrasts with the recent seamless recruitment exercise conducted for all four of the agencies under the Interior Ministry, where technology was simply deployed, leading to a hassle-free exercise."

A Call for Reciprocity and Enhanced Security

The promoted officers belong to the:

  • Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS)
  • Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
  • Federal Fire Service (FFS)
  • Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

Nwauju concluded by urging the benefiting officers to reciprocate the federal government's gesture by intensifying their dedication to duty. He called on them to redouble their efforts in strengthening the nation's internal security framework, ensuring that the investment in their welfare translates directly into enhanced safety for all Nigerians.

The APC spokesperson asserted that public service must be driven by performance and measurable results, hailing the current leadership for placing "square pegs in square holes" capable of delivering tangible dividends from public funds.
