The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has released the official monthly pay figures for Nigerian governors, revealing that each state governor receives a total of N648,560.62 every month before additional allowances are factored in. The breakdown, shared by TheCableIndex, shows that a governor's monthly pay comprises three components: a basic salary of N185,308.75, a hardship allowance of N92,654.37, and a consistency allowance of N370,617.50.
Deputy Governors' Monthly Pay
Deputy governors earn slightly less, with their monthly pay totalling N616,062.69. That figure comprises a basic salary of N176,017.91, a hardship allowance of N88,008.95, and a consistency allowance of N352,035.83, according to the RMAFC report.
Other Allowances Not Valued
Beyond the three listed components, RMAFC acknowledged that governors and their deputies are entitled to a range of other allowances. These include motor vehicle fuelling, personal and special assistants, domestic staff, entertainment, utilities, security, newspapers, accommodation, medical, and furniture allowances, among others. However, the commission did not attach specific monetary values to any of these additional entitlements in the report, meaning the figures published represent only a portion of what governors actually receive each month.
Actual Salaries of Nigerian President and Governors
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the President of Nigeria earns an annual salary of ₦14,058,820, translating to a monthly income of ₦1,171,568, while state governors receive ₦7,782,968 annually, or ₦648,581 monthly, according to data available on RMAFC, a government agency. These figures were disclosed by Muhammed Shehu, Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), in an interview.
The publication of these figures provides a clearer picture of the compensation structure for state executives, though the unvalued allowances leave the full monthly earnings of governors and deputies undisclosed. The RMAFC report serves as the official reference for salary and allowance data, and further details on additional entitlements may be provided in future updates.
