Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday disclosed that he visited former Governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, at his residence in Abuja. Atiku made this known through a post on his official X handle, where he revealed that the meeting focused on discussions surrounding the current state of the nation.
Deep and Honest Conversations
According to him, both leaders held “deep and honest conversations” on issues affecting the country, including the worsening economic situation, insecurity, and the need for patriotic Nigerians to continue seeking solutions to national challenges. “Beyond the warmth and camaraderie, we had deep and honest conversations about the troubling state of our nation, the growing economic pain, insecurity, and the urgent responsibility on patriotic Nigerians to continue engaging in the search for solutions that can rescue our country from drift and despair,” Atiku stated.
Birthday Felicitations and Light Moments
The former Vice President also felicitated Amaechi on the occasion of his birthday celebrated on Wednesday. Adding a lighter tone to the visit, Atiku joked about Arsenal’s recent triumph, noting that it came at the perfect time for Amaechi, whom he described as “a thoroughly well-loaded Gunner.” “Chief Amaechi, a thoroughly well-loaded Gunner, took the banter in very good spirits,” he said.
Promise of Fisherman Soup
Atiku further disclosed that Amaechi apologised for not having enough time to prepare Fisherman Soup during the visit, while promising to serve the delicacy during a future meeting. “In true Rivers hospitality, he apologised for not having enough time to prepare Fisherman Soup, a delicacy I have now been promised on our return for the second leg,” Atiku added.
