Coalition Presents Senate Nomination Forms to Nguroje in Abuja
Coalition Presents Senate Forms to Nguroje

A coalition known as the National Coalition for Peace and Mobilization (NACOPEAM) has explained that its decision to purchase and present nomination and expression of interest forms to former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Babangida SM Nguroje, was due to the abysmal and ineffective performance of the incumbent senator.

The group, yesterday in Abuja, presented Honourable Nguroje with the nomination and expression of interest forms at the Abuja Sheraton Hotels. The leader of the group, Dr. Ahmed Saleh, FCILG National President, stated that the group was acting on behalf of its Taraba Central zone, having assessed the lawmaker and followed his track record of performance during his tenure in the House of Representatives, where he rose to become deputy speaker, as well as his philanthropic activities and empowerment programmes across the zone and beyond.

According to Dr. Saleh: "We are here to present the nomination forms and expression of interest forms to one of our best, Rt. Honourable Babangida SM Nguroje, to contest for the Taraba Central senatorial zone in the forthcoming elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Our decision was informed by ineffective leadership that the zone has witnessed in the last three years in the Senate and the abysmal performance of the sitting senator. We are of the considered opinion that this is the time to make that necessary change for the good of the people of the zone. We are of the considered opinion that Honourable Babangida SM Nguroje has the experience and the connection to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people. We have listened to the people; we have conducted our assessment. What will equally interest you is that it is the people who contributed their hard-earned money to purchase these forms, and that speaks to the issue of clarion calls. We therefore urge you to accept these forms and answer this call of your people to represent them. This is the first step; we will mobilize the people because we are confident that you have all that it takes to represent them in the Senate. So kindly accept this challenge, go there, and make us proud."

In accepting the forms and the calls for him to contest, the former deputy speaker expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work with other lawmakers with the aim of making the zone stand shoulder to shoulder with any other senatorial district, if elected. Honourable Nguroje stated that lawmaking requires experience and networking that responds to the yearnings and aspirations of the people. He emphasized the need for deliberate alliances that will navigate towards elevating the quality of life of the people, stressing that he would prioritize working towards making the zone viable by attracting federal presence through the instrumentality of the law. He assured that as former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, he understands the nuances and partnerships required to ensure that the people enjoy the dividends of democracy in a constitutional democracy. He promised to live up to the expectations and offer his best for the people of Taraba Central.
