The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has officially launched a comprehensive investigation following the circulation of a viral image depicting one of its soldiers smashing a statue of Jesus in southern Lebanon. The army strongly condemned the soldier's actions, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable. “The IDF views the incident with great severity and emphasises that the soldier’s conduct is wholly inconsistent with the values expected of its troops,” the statement added, underscoring the military's commitment to ethical standards.

The IDF further confirmed that the matter is under active investigation, with the Northern Command leading the inquiry. “The Northern Command is investigating the incident and is currently being addressed through the chain of command.
