The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), a coalition of governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has categorically denied reports that its chairman, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, has been removed from his position. The denial was issued by Folorunso Aluko, the director general of the forum, in a statement released on Thursday, May 7.
PGF Clarifies Uzodimma's Status
Aluko described the circulating reports as "false and misleading." He emphasized that no meeting was held where such a decision could have been taken, and the secretariat has no knowledge of any resolution to remove Uzodimma. The statement reaffirmed that Uzodimma remains the chairman of the PGF.
Background of the Rumors
Earlier reports had claimed that 20 governors from the forum, including those from Ogun, Bayelsa, and Enugu states, had voted to remove Uzodimma and replace him with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah. However, the PGF has dismissed these claims as baseless.
The forum urged the public to disregard the false information and continue to rely on official communications from the PGF secretariat.
