The United Kingdom government has officially unveiled the detailed itinerary for the state visit of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, scheduled to occur from March 17 to 19, 2026. This visit, hosted at the historic Windsor Castle, will encompass a series of bilateral meetings, ceremonial events, and engagements with members of the Nigerian diaspora, marking a significant diplomatic occasion.
Preparations and Arrival Details
Preparations for the visit are set to commence on March 17, with extensive security sweeps, road closures, and procession rehearsals taking place in anticipation of the president's arrival. President Tinubu will officially arrive on March 18, where he will be warmly received by Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales. Following this, a ceremonial welcome will be held on Datchet road, featuring the playing of national anthems and a formal guard inspection.
The president will then proceed in a grand carriage procession to Windsor Castle, where he will be greeted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The schedule includes a formal reception, a 21-gun salute, and a state luncheon at St George's Hall, highlighting the ceremonial aspects of the visit.
Bilateral Engagements and Cultural Events
Later on March 18, President Tinubu is expected to hold crucial bilateral meetings with UK officials, focusing on key areas such as trade, security, migration, and port development. These discussions aim to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Final Day Activities and Departure
On March 19, the Nigerian president will hold a private breakfast with King Charles III and Queen Camilla before departing for London. While in London, Tinubu is scheduled to lay a wreath at The Cenotaph in Westminster, paying respects to fallen soldiers.
He will also meet with Keir Starmer, the UK Prime Minister, at 10 Downing Street for further bilateral discussions and a working lunch. Additional engagements include a meeting with members of the Nigerian diaspora and the signing of bilateral agreements at Buckingham Palace.
