The death toll from recent United States and Israeli military strikes in Iran has escalated to a minimum of 555 individuals, according to official figures released by the Iranian Red Crescent. This humanitarian organization disclosed that the bombardments have inflicted damage across an extensive geographic area, with attacks documented in 131 cities throughout the nation, as reported by The Telegraph.

Emergency response teams remain actively deployed across multiple provinces, engaged in ongoing rescue and medical operations to address the aftermath of the assaults. In a formal statement, the Red Crescent emphasized, "Following enemy attacks in recent days, so far 131 cities have been involved in the incident," noting that relief activities are being conducted continuously, without interruption.
The organization further detailed, "Five hundred and fifty-five compatriots were martyred, and rescue, relief, transfer, and medical services operations are being carried out continuously." To manage the escalating humanitarian crisis, authorities have placed over 100,000 rescue and relief workers on full alert, highlighting the severe scale of the emergency.
Political Fallout and Leadership Response
The rising casualty count coincides with Iran's interim leadership taking steps to consolidate power in the wake of the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who perished in joint U.S.-Israeli attacks earlier in the conflict. The temporary leadership council convened its second meeting late Sunday, where President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed the government's dedication to continuing the policies established by the late leader.
In a recorded video message following the session, Pezeshkian declared, "The temporary leadership council started its work today and by God's grace and power will continue the path of the late imam and the dear martyred leader and the path of all truth-seekers in the world." He issued a stern warning to Washington and Tel Aviv, asserting that the assassination of Iran's supreme leader would not weaken the nation.
"America and the Israeli regime should know that martyring the supreme leader of the Islamic Revolution will bring them nothing but humiliation," the president stated. Pezeshkian also called on citizens to demonstrate unity and public solidarity during what he described as a national period of mourning and resistance.
"Our dear nation is mourning this great martyr today, and all of us, with our presence on the scene and in the field, in mosques and streets, must thwart the enemies' sinister plans with empathy and hand in hand," he urged. Additionally, he emphasized Iran's military readiness for further confrontation, stating, "The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are ready and will be ready to crush the bases of enemies, and will disappoint enemies as always."
