An American travel content creator has publicly expressed his anguish after a new United States presidential travel proclamation effectively blocked his Nigerian wife from joining him in America. The man, identified as Chris, revealed that the couple's hopes for a life together in the US have been dashed by the policy shift.

Chris, who creates content under the handle @authentic_traveling, explained in an emotional TikTok video that he has been married to his wife, Adenike, for over a year and a half. The couple, who have known each other for five years, had been patiently awaiting her visa interview scheduled since May 2024.
Their plans came to a sudden halt when the US government announced a new travel ban. The proclamation, which will take effect from January 2026, added Nigeria to a list of 35 countries facing partial travel restrictions. Crucially, the new rules extend beyond non-immigrant visas like tourist or student visas to include immigrant visas for spouses.
"It is now extremely unlikely that my wife will be able to visit the United States anytime soon," Chris lamented in the video. "With the new presidential travel ban, she currently has no path to come to the United States."
