Zambian President Confirmed as Keynote Speaker for 2026 World Public Relations Forum in Abuja

President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia has officially accepted the invitation to serve as the keynote speaker at the upcoming 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), which is scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from November 15 to 21, 2026. This significant announcement was made by Zambia's Minister of Information and Media, Cornelius Mweetwa, during a high-level meeting in Lusaka with representatives from key public relations organizations across Africa.

Minister Mweetwa Conveys President's Acceptance with Humility

During the meeting, which included officials from the African Public Relations Association (APRA), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and the Zambian Institute of Public Relations and Communication (ZIPRC), Minister Mweetwa emphasized that President Hichilema accepted the invitation with great humility. He noted that the timing of the visit by the PR bodies was particularly critical, highlighting the importance placed on this global communication event. "The President does not take this invitation lightly. He has graciously accepted to serve as keynote speaker at that important global forum," Mweetwa stated, as quoted by the NIPR Director of Public Relations in an official statement.

Nigeria Prepares to Host Flagship Global Gathering

The WPRF is recognized as a premier global assembly for communication professionals, expected to attract participants from various continents. Nigeria is hosting the forum on behalf of Africa, with President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria confirmed as the Chief Host. Additionally, Nigeria's Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will convene an African Information Ministers Roundtable as part of the forum's comprehensive program. Ike Neliaku, President of NIPR, expressed that this event presents a unique opportunity to influence global communication narratives from an African viewpoint, assuring that Nigeria is fully prepared for the hosting duties.
