Pastor Isaac Olaomo, the Presiding Pastor of Mantle Prayer Ministry, has called on church leaders to take the lead in promoting peace and love in society. He made this appeal during the special monthly prayer service of the interdenominational outreach ministry held in Sagamu, Ogun State.
Rising Global Violence and the Role of Religious Leaders
Olaomo expressed concern over the increasing waves of terrorist attacks and violence across the globe, stating that religious leaders can help reverse the trend by encouraging their followers to be law-abiding citizens. He noted that the world has been worse off due to these attacks and violence.
According to him, “We may have our differences as a people but we can live together in an atmosphere of peace and shun all forms of violence that may hinder the much anticipated growth and development within the continent.”
Church's Responsibility to Promote Tolerance
Olaomo emphasized that church leaders, in particular, have a responsibility to promote peace, love, and tolerance among their congregations. He stressed that the world looks to the church to remain resolute and forthright in bringing hope in a world full of despair, fears, shame, and all forms of injustices.
The cleric further stated that the world will be a lot better if people learn to coexist and shun differences in opinions and practices. His remarks come amid growing concerns about global security and the need for faith-based leadership in addressing social challenges.
Call for Unity and Law-Abiding Conduct
Olaomo urged religious leaders to challenge their followers to be law-abiding, emphasizing that peaceful coexistence is essential for development. He reiterated that despite differences, people can live together harmoniously without resorting to violence.
The special monthly prayer service, which drew attendees from various denominations, served as a platform for the pastor to deliver this message. The interdenominational nature of the ministry underscores the importance of unity across different faith groups in promoting peace.
