The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Supervising DIG for the South-West Geopolitical Zone, DIG Fayoade Mustapha Adegoke, has officially begun his tour of duty across the South-West region. The tour commenced with a strategic engagement in Ibadan, Oyo State, at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters in Eleyele.
Engagement with Stakeholders
The visit brought together police officers, stakeholders, and community representatives to discuss measures aimed at strengthening security, improving police-community relations, and enhancing operational effectiveness across the region. The Commissioner of Police for Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbemiga, welcomed the DIG and described the visit as a significant step toward consolidating existing security efforts and strengthening collaboration between the police and the public. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while sustaining proactive measures to address security challenges in the state.
Call for Professionalism
During the engagement, DIG Fayoade expressed satisfaction with the level of discipline, professionalism, and operational commitment demonstrated by officers of the Command. He charged personnel to remain dedicated to their constitutional responsibilities, uphold the rule of law, maintain public trust, and steer clear of corruption and other forms of misconduct. The DIG also emphasized the importance of community participation in effective policing, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information that can aid crime prevention and detection.
According to him, sustainable security can only be achieved through strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and members of the public. He explained that the tour was undertaken on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen policing operations and evaluate security structures across the South-West. He further encouraged the Command to intensify operations through the strategic deployment of personnel and resources to identified flashpoints and areas of concern.
The Oyo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and fostering stronger partnerships with stakeholders in pursuit of a safer and more secure society.
