Two Essential Documents Required
Applicants must provide two documents to proceed with their application. The first is a letter from their employer, a transfer leave document, or a vacation letter—specifically for those employed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs itself. The second is a copy of the applicant's National ID, which must be attached to the application. The ministry has emphasised that both conditions must be satisfied before any request can be processed, noting no flexibility around these requirements.
Incomplete applications are unlikely to proceed, according to the ministry's service page. The move to publish these requirements online is part of a broader push by Saudi Arabia to make government services more accessible and transparent, allowing eligible individuals to understand the exact steps needed before starting the application process.
Who Qualifies for a Special Passport?
A diplomatic or special passport is distinct from a standard travel document. It is issued to individuals in specific official or government-linked roles and typically carries privileges such as expedited entry or exemption from standard visa requirements in certain countries. The ministry did not release a full list of eligible categories but reiterated that eligibility is determined by the category to which the person belongs.
Previously, Saudi Arabia's official tourism portal outlined three visa options for Nigerians, each with different costs and entry conditions. Those applying through an embassy or authorised Tasheer office must also meet specific stay durations and documentation requirements.
