Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has officially approved the appointment of Alhaji Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar as the new Emir of Kagarko, according to a statement released on Monday by the Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman-Lagos.
Appointment Process
The new emir, who previously held the title of San Turakin Kagarko, emerged after a rigorous selection process. The commissioner stated that a pool of contestants were thoroughly screened by the kingmakers of the Kagarko Emirate Council, and Suleiman was eventually selected as the rightful successor.
Background of Succession
The appointment follows the death of the late 2nd Class Emir of Kagarko, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, who passed away on January 8, 2026, after ruling the emirate for six years. The new emir is expected to continue the legacy of his predecessor.
Governor Sani has congratulated the new Emir on ascending the throne of his forefathers and urged him to steadfastly promote peace and harmony within his communities. The governor emphasized the importance of unity and development in the region.
Arrangements for the formal installation ceremony and presentation of the staff of office to the new emir will be communicated in due course, the commissioner added.
