Zamfara Gov Appoints Advisers, Hospital Board

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of two Special Advisers, a Senior Special Assistant, and heads of key government institutions. The governor also reconstituted the Governing Board of Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau.

Appointments to Strengthen Governance

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, announced the appointments in a statement, noting that the move aims to strengthen government operations, improve policy coordination, and enhance service delivery across the state.

Hon. Naziru Ibrahim was appointed Special Adviser on Strategy and Governance, while Nura Sani Abdullahi was elevated from Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Political Matters. Zainab Muhammad Hassan was named Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA). Dr. Badamasi Sarkin Kaya Maradun was appointed as the new Provost of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe. Additionally, Hon. Namadi Isah Kasuwar Daji was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters.

Specialist Hospital Board Reconstituted

The governor reconstituted the Governing Board of Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, to ensure effective administration and smooth operations in line with the hospital's establishing law. The board is chaired by former Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis.

Other board members include the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, the Head of Clinical Services and Training, and representatives from the Federal Medical Centre, Ministry of Health, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). Also appointed are Dr. Sa’ad Idris Dan Isa, Suwaiba Ibrahim (representing women’s interests), Alhaji Mujtaba Isah (a retired public servant), and two representatives of private medical practitioners. The hospital’s Director of Administration will serve as board secretary.

Governor Lawal congratulated the appointees and urged them to discharge their duties with dedication and integrity to drive meaningful change in their respective areas of responsibility.
