Mother of JAMB Candidate Shares Ordeal After Daughter Was Ejected for Helping Elderly Man

The mother of a candidate who sat for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination has recounted how her daughter was sent out of the exam hall for assisting an elderly man, only to be allowed back after remaining calm. In a TikTok video, Oluwatosin David narrated the incident, highlighting her daughter's composure and faith.

During the exam, the daughter noticed an elderly man struggling with his computer. Despite his pleas, invigilators reportedly ignored him, focusing on younger candidates. Seeing his time wasting away, she decided to help. However, her act of kindness was misinterpreted as malpractice, and an invigilator ordered her out before she could finish her own test.

Instead of panicking, the teenager stayed outside and recited affirmations, including: 'I am not at a disadvantage. I cannot be at a disadvantage. All things work together for my advantage.' Her father was waiting outside but she did not run to him.

Her composure caught the attention of another official, who asked why she was outside. After explaining, the official intervened, noting that both the candidate and the ejecting invigilator were Yoruba. He pleaded on her behalf, and she was allowed back in to complete the exam.

The mother said: 'Lo and behold, another invigilator walked up to her and asked why she was outside. She explained what happened. When the man realized she was a Yoruba girl, he noted that the invigilator who chased her out was also Yoruba. He went to plead on her behalf. By the time they finished, the man who chased her out told her to come back in and finish her exam.'
