Bauchi APC in Crisis as Yuguda and Tuggar Feud Escalates
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State is embroiled in a deepening controversy, with former Governor Isa Yuguda and Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar locked in a bitter dispute that threatens party cohesion. Both prominent figures, hailing from Bauchi and members of the APC, have been at odds over allegations that Tuggar is scheming to destabilize the party and was involved in a $150,000 bribery scandal related to an APC delegation report.
Chairman of Tuggar Vanguard Issues Stern Warning
Garba Mohammed, Chairman of the Tuggar Vanguard, issued a statement on Sunday urging Yuguda to abandon politics of bitterness and division. Mohammed emphasized that any legitimate concerns about party affairs in Bauchi should be resolved through official and lawful channels within the party structure. He stressed that serious public accusations, especially those that could harm reputations and heighten tensions, must be substantiated with concrete evidence.
Mohammed warned, "Politics should not become a theatre for reckless claims, innuendo, or bitterness from those who feel entitled." He elaborated on the specific allegation of a $150,000 financial inducement tied to the APC delegation's report on party congresses in Bauchi State, describing it as a grave accusation that requires credible proof. "In any lawful society, allegations of bribery cannot rest on conjecture, hearsay, or political bitterness. If evidence exists, it should be presented to the appropriate authorities. Until then, it remains merely an allegation," he stated.
Concerns Over Reputation and Political Damage
Mohammed expressed concern that Yuguda's unsubstantiated claims are damaging his own reputation more than Tuggar's. He suggested that Yuguda's actions reveal a sense of entitlement and a declining position in Bauchi's political landscape. "That he would wish to sink so low says far more about his feeling of entitlement and where he stands today in the political life of Bauchi than it does about Ambassador Tuggar," Mohammed remarked.
He argued that Bauchi State is in dire need of genuine change, not recycled bitterness, political grandstanding, or unverified accusations from individuals who cling to feudal-like power dynamics. "Bauchi needs and deserves real change, not recycled bitterness, political grandstanding and unverified accusations of those who feel it is their right to hold feudal-like reins of power in Bauchi," he added.

Mohammed concluded by calling for mature leadership, disciplined engagement, and a clear commitment to progress in Bauchi. He asserted that the people of the state deserve a politics that propels it forward, rather than one that drags it back into division and stagnation. "What the state required at the moment is mature leadership, disciplined engagement and a clear commitment to progress.
