Senator Goje's Aide Denies Defection Rumors to ADC, Cites Political Mischief
Amid a wave of political defections ahead of the 2027 elections, an aide to former Gombe State Governor and serving All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator, Danjuma Goje, has firmly denied rumors circulating on social media that the senator plans to defect to the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a press statement signed and made available to journalists, Special Assistant to the senator, Ahmed Isa Kashere, described the story as disinformation and labeled it a baseless fabrication orchestrated by Goje's political opponents in the state.
Commitment to APC Emphasized
Kashere pointed out that Senator Goje recently attended the APC's national convention and has been actively participating in party activities at the national level, which he said demonstrates Goje's unwavering commitment to the party.
Senator Goje has not quit the APC, nor does he intend to. This disinformation is nothing but mischief from those who seek to undermine his reputation and contributions to the party, the aide emphasized in the statement.
Context of Political Realignments
This denial comes amid ongoing political realignments as the 2027 elections approach. Kashere highlighted that Goje's loyal participation in APC events underscores his steadfast allegiance to the party.
He further noted that it is not surprising for mischievous elements to use mushroom media platforms to disseminate such baseless claims, adding that this is not the first time such tactics have been employed against Goje and other politicians, especially as election seasons draw near.
The aide's statement aims to quell speculation and reinforce Goje's position within the APC, amidst a climate of heightened political activity and rumor-mongering.
