Former presidential candidate and chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has extended his heartfelt condolences to his running mate in the 2023 election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, over the tragic loss of his younger brother.
In a statement posted on his verified X handle on Friday, Obi expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He said, “I deeply mourn with my dear younger brother Datti Baba-Ahmed over the passing of his beloved younger brother. My thoughts and earnest prayers are with him and the entire Baba-Ahmed family in this moment of grief.”
Obi further prayed for the deceased, stating, “May Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the family the strength and patience to bear this painful loss—inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”
He also offered words of comfort, saying, “May Allah comfort all who mourn and reward patience with peace. Indeed, Allah is the Best of planners.”
