Taraba PDP in Crisis as 8 Caretaker Members Reject Executive List
In a significant development, eight members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee in Taraba State have publicly distanced themselves from a purported list of a newly elected state executive committee. The list was allegedly released by the former caretaker chairman, Dr. Victor Fallack, sparking internal discord within the party.
Joint Statement Denounces Unilateral Action
In a joint statement signed on Sunday, the members asserted that the list, which reportedly names Dr. Fallack as chairman and includes some of them as members, was compiled without their knowledge or consultation. They emphasized that this action was taken single-handedly by the former chairman, bypassing the entire Caretaker Committee.
The signatories stressed that they do not recognize the list and have formally dissociated themselves from it to prevent confusion and maintain stability within the party. They explained that this clarification is necessary to uphold the party's interests and promote peace in Taraba State.
Commitment to Party Unity and Democratic Processes
The members reaffirmed their commitment as party stakeholders and citizens to fostering unity and peaceful political engagement. They also commended party delegates across the state for their orderly conduct during the recently concluded ward, local government, and state congresses.
Those who signed the statement include:
- Terna Anzamber (Donga LGA)
- Hikon Hosea (Wukari LGA)
- Hamisu Maigari (Gassol LGA)
- Zubulun Dauda Hamman (Karim Lamido LGA)
- Yakubu Balutu (Karim Lamido LGA)
- Hauwa Adam Imam (Jalingo LGA)
- Ali Musa (Takum LGA)
- Hon. Polycarp Apura (Ussa/Yangtu LGA)
The signatories reiterated their dedication to the unity of the PDP and urged party members across Taraba State to remain calm. They emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen internal democratic processes and ensure transparent governance within the party.
