2027: Barau's Mandate Non-Negotiable, APC Group Says

The APC Akida Group has declared that the mandate of the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, remains “sacrosanct and non-negotiable” ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group cited his track record of service and development across Kano North as the basis for its unwavering support.

In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by its chairman, Aliyu Musa Dan Zabuwa, the group emphasized that its position was not driven by sentiment but by what it described as “a well-established record of purposeful leadership and consistent representation.” Dan Zabuwa noted that Barau, who currently serves as Deputy Senate President, has elevated the political relevance of Kano North at the national level while maintaining strong ties with his constituents.

“Despite the demands of his national assignment, he remains accessible and committed to the grassroots,” he said.

Education and Infrastructure Milestones

The group highlighted the senator’s interventions in the education sector, including the establishment of a Federal University of Technology in Bichi, scholarships for students, and the renovation of classrooms across the senatorial district. According to the statement, these efforts demonstrate Barau’s belief that education is central to sustainable development.

On infrastructure, the APC Akida Group pointed to road construction projects linking rural communities and the installation of solar-powered streetlights, describing them as visible signs of democratic dividends delivered under Barau’s representation.

Empowerment and Livelihood Impact

The statement further emphasized the senator’s impact on livelihoods, particularly through youth and women empowerment programmes, healthcare interventions, and agricultural support. “Thousands have benefitted from skills acquisition, access to medical services, and distribution of farming inputs to boost productivity,” Dan Zabuwa added.

Reaffirming its stance, the group stressed that continuity in leadership would be critical to sustaining ongoing development in the region. “The progress recorded must not be allowed to stall. 2027 should be a period of consolidation, not experimentation,” the chairman said.

While calling on stakeholders and residents of Kano North to rally behind the senator, the group insisted that Barau’s performance has earned him widespread trust and credibility. “His consistency and ability to deliver on promises have distinguished him as a reliable leader,” the statement noted.

The APC Akida Group therefore urged unity among supporters, declaring that Barau remains the preferred candidate for the 2027 elections. “He embodies integrity, dedication, and effective representation. His mandate, therefore, is sacrosanct and non-negotiable,” Dan Zabuwa said.
