ADC Accuses APC of Sowing Seeds of National Instability in Nigeria
ADC Warns APC Over National Instability Tactics

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a stern warning that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is deliberately sowing seeds of national instability, urging the international community to closely monitor this dangerous tendency that betrays all known democratic norms.

ADC Labels APC as Most Shameless Government

The opposition party described the APC as the most shameless government in Nigeria's history, accusing it of recruiting agents tasked with creating factions within every political party to weaken opposition and destabilize them.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in an early morning tweet on his X handle on Tuesday, highlighted that the sudden emergence of a faction within the People's Redemption Party (PRP) shortly after a courtesy visit by its National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, to the ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, clearly demonstrates that the ruling party is planting seeds of national instability and shrinking the democratic space. This comes even as the APC-controlled Federal Government continues to deny involvement in other parties' internal affairs.

Details of the Allegation

Mallam Abdullahi stated: “This has to be the most shameless government in Nigeria’s history. About three weeks ago, the leadership of the PRP, led by its National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, paid a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the ADC. A few days later, rumours began to circulate that the coalition leadership was considering the PRP as an option. Although this is not true, it took only that single whiff of speculation for a faction to emerge almost overnight in what had been a historically tranquil political party, challenging the leadership of Baba-Ahmed.”

He added: “This is the reality of Nigeria’s shrinking democratic space under the All Progressives Congress. The government may continue to deny any involvement in the crises within other parties, insisting that these are merely internal failures, but the pattern is visible.”

Call for Global Attention

The ADC stressed that “the world can see what is happening. More importantly, they can see where this path leads. But here is the question: is there no one within the APC who can caution those engineering crises in opposition parties that they are, in fact, sowing the seeds of national instability?”

The party expressed concerns that the strategy being used by the ruling party has no place in decent politics, rather it is a clear sabotage that could potentially push the people to the walls. “A political strategy that is anchored on sabotaging every opposition platform is ultimately self-destructive. When people are left with no options, they are, in reality, left with no choice,” the statement concluded.
