Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church in Lagos has issued a spiritual warning to former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu, stating that the ex-minister cannot achieve his 2027 governorship ambition without his support. This comes months after Adelabu petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) accusing Ayodele of demanding N150 million for spiritual intercession.
Ayodele's Claim and Background
In a video trending on social media, Ayodele declared that the key to Adelabu becoming governor of Oyo State lies in his hands. Adelabu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), recently resigned from President Bola Tinubu's cabinet to pursue his gubernatorial aspirations.
In December 2025, Adelabu accused Ayodele of demanding N150 million and expensive spiritual items to help him realize his governorship dream. Bolaji Tunji, Adelabu's special adviser, filed a petition with the DSS, alleging false prophecies and an attempt to malign the former minister's reputation after he rejected the cleric's demands.
Public Reactions
Ayodele's latest statement has sparked widespread reactions from Nigerians. A user named AO Captain called for the cleric's arrest, stating that religious leaders making such threats should be detained and their churches closed. Another commenter, Seun, expressed concern about Ayodele's mental stability, questioning why an elderly person would subject himself to ridicule. Isaac criticized the cleric, saying such practices are outdated, while Raphael questioned whether Ayodele is a pastor or a traditionalist, given his behavior.
Previous Prophecy on Terrorism
In a separate prophecy, Ayodele warned President Tinubu against negotiating with terrorists, claiming that five powerful individuals are behind the surge in terrorist activities across the country. The cleric urged the president to be cautious in dealing with kidnappers and terrorists.
