The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ondo State chapter, has announced that its state congress will take place on May 4 as part of efforts to elect substantive officials of the party in the state. The congress aligns with directives from the party's national headquarters, according to the state publicity secretary, Owolola Adebola.
Delegate Participation
Adebola stated that no fewer than 150 delegates from all 18 local government areas of the state will participate in the exercise. The congress is scheduled to be held in Akure, the state capital, with all necessary security and logistical arrangements already finalized.
Previous Congresses
The party had earlier conducted its ward and local government congresses across the three senatorial districts of Ondo State. These preliminary exercises were essential to present a unified front ahead of the 2027 general elections, Adebola emphasized.
Focus of the State Congress
The state congress will focus on the election of substantive state executive officers. Additionally, the event will enable the party to review its strategies and plan ahead for the upcoming polls. The party stressed that adherence to congress guidelines will be strictly enforced to ensure a transparent and orderly process.

The statement from the party read: “The Ondo State Chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in line with directives from the party’s national headquarters, has scheduled its State Congress for Monday, 4th May, 2026. The Congress will take place at Royal Birds Hotel and Towers, Alagbaka, Akure, the Ondo State capital, at 12:00 noon. A total of 150 delegates from 18 local government areas of the state are expected to attend the event.”
The party also extended its appreciation to members and stakeholders for their commitment and cooperation, which ensured the successful and peaceful conduct of the ward and local government congresses.
