2027: Obasa, Obanikoro Rally for Hamzat, Tinubu

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, along with other prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, have assured party members that Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat's candidature for the 2027 governorship election is a settled matter. The leaders made this known during Hamzat's ongoing consultation visits, where they also urged Lagos residents to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027.

Obasa Affirms Hamzat's Candidature

Obasa, who received Hamzat at his GRA residence in Ikeja, declared that the deputy governor's candidature "has been sealed." He expressed confidence in Hamzat's ability to lead Lagos State, emphasizing the unity within the party behind his aspiration.

Obanikoro Praises Hamzat's Competence

Senator Obanikoro extolled Hamzat's virtues, stating that an objective assessment of his pedigree reveals a committed and competent technocrat ready to take the reins of Lagos State. He added that the state must not decline but continue to grow, expressing confidence that Hamzat's leadership would sustain its upward trajectory.

Stakeholders Call for Vibrant Legislative Aspirants

Meanwhile, participants at a two-day executive-legislative parley urged the party to endorse legislative aspirants who can effectively articulate APC's plans at both state and national levels. This call was part of the communique issued at the 19th Executive and Legislative Parley organized by the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement. Attendees, including members of the Lagos State Executive Council and National Assembly members from Lagos, resolved that the three arms of government should deepen their harmonious working relationship through collaboration, cooperation, coordination, communication, and consensus.

Senator Solomon Urges Support for APC

In a similar vein, Senator Ganiyu Solomon appealed to Mushin residents to turn out en masse on election day to vote for Tinubu, Hamzat, and other APC candidates. He urged Nigerians to disregard critics of the APC-led government.

Party Chairman Reiterates Backing

Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, while receiving Hamzat at the party's secretariat in Ogba, reiterated the party's full backing for his aspiration. Responding, Hamzat outlined his vision for the state, noting that Lagos remains too strategic to Nigeria's development to fail.

Alakija Backs Tinubu's Re-election

Mayowa Israel Alakija, an aspirant for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has urged Nigerians to support Tinubu's re-election and sustain APC's dominance at both federal and state levels in 2027. Alakija, who has commenced consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the constituency, said retaining the APC would guarantee continuity and enable Nigerians to reap the long-term benefits of ongoing reforms.
