2027: PDP chieftain battles Echocho, Ajaka for Kogi East

A real estate developer and politician, Muhammad Abdullahi, has declared his intention to contest the Kogi East Senatorial seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He joins the incumbent senator, Jibrin Isah (Echocho), and Murtala Ajaka in the race for the position.

Ajaka's Defection and Interest

Ajaka, who was the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 Kogi State election, recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has also signaled interest in the senatorial contest.

Abdullahi's Vision

Abdullahi, popularly known as “Elephant” and an indigene of Ankpa Local Government Area, said his ambition is driven by the need to provide effective representation and accelerate development across the senatorial district. Speaking at the declaration, the PDP aspirant pledged to prioritize the welfare of his constituents and deliver tangible dividends of democracy.

“I am stepping forward to serve my people with sincerity, dedication and a clear vision for progress. Kogi East deserves quality representation at the Red Chamber, and I am committed to attracting meaningful development to our land,” he said.

Commitment to Service

He emphasized that his ambition is rooted in a longstanding passion for service and community development, noting that his track record speaks for itself. “For years, I have remained committed to touching lives across Kogi East. This is not just about politics; it is about service, sacrifice and sustainable development for our people,” Abdullahi stated.

Philanthropic Work

Widely regarded as a philanthropist and grassroots mobilizer, Abdullahi has built a reputation for community-driven initiatives across the senatorial district. His interventions include the provision of motorized boreholes to improve access to clean water, sponsorship of Muslim faithful to Hajj, scholarships for students in tertiary institutions, and financial support for small-scale businesses.

“Our people deserve access to education, empowerment for businesses and basic infrastructure that improves daily living. These are priorities I will continue to champion,” he added.

Call for Support

He called on party members and the electorate to rally behind his candidacy, assuring them of inclusive leadership and equitable distribution of resources. “I am ready to serve with integrity and fairness. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous Kogi East,” he declared.
