30-Year-Old APC Aspirant Mahmud Sadis Buba Causes Stir After Kaduna Screening
Mahmud Sadis Buba, a 30-year-old candidate running for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, has generated significant attention following his screening by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State. The aspiring lawmaker, also known as Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau, became a trending topic on social media after a video of his meeting with party screening officials surfaced online on Sunday.
Details of the Screening
Dressed in traditional attire, Buba faced questions regarding his age, educational background, and motivations for seeking office. Many Nigerians online focused on his youthful appearance, with some expressing surprise that he had reached the minimum age of 30 required to contest for the House of Representatives. During the screening, Buba stated that he is 30 years old and the eldest among nine siblings. He explained that constituents encouraged him to step forward and represent their interests. “Help me pass the screening, having met the requirements, because people called me to serve them, and I will serve. I am not doing this for myself,” he told the panel.
Political Ambitions and Reactions
Buba is vying for the APC ticket to challenge the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency in the 2027 elections. When asked about his decision to challenge the current representative, Buba responded, “It is not from me. It is from the people.” The development has elicited mixed reactions online. Some praised his composure and confidence, while others criticized the line of questioning, deeming it dismissive and overly focused on his youthful appearance. Supporters describe him as a grassroots politician, suggesting his rise indicates increased youth involvement in Nigerian politics.
Background of Mahmud Sadis Buba
Buba serves as the chairman of the ‘Tinubu–Uba Sani Agenda ’27’ support group and recently purchased the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms. He holds an NECO certificate and has sparked discussions about age, merit, and inclusivity in Nigeria’s political landscape. Buba has been photographed with numerous political figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani; the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai; and Member of Kaduna North Federal Constituency Bello El-Rufai, among others. After obtaining the APC forms, Buba presented them to Senate President Godswill Akpabio as part of his consultation efforts.
