The South-west zone of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly rejected media reports suggesting division within the zone, describing them as false, malicious, and fabricated.
Official Statement Rejects Allegations
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the ADC Zonal Chairman, Hon. Akinbowale Omole, affirmed that the party in the South-west remains fully united and firmly aligned with the national leadership. The statement reads: “We have read with utter dismay reports in some media outlets about an alleged division in the Southwest zone of the ADC. We state categorically that the story is a cruel fabrication designed to create a false impression of disunity and fragmentation within our party.”
Party Leadership Praised
Omole emphasized that the ADC in the South-west and across the country is in stable hands under the leadership of National Chairman Senator David Mark and National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. He noted that the party has become a target of anti-democratic forces but remains resolute. “As they contrive, we shall prevail,” he stated, expressing confidence that the party will triumph and lead Nigeria to prosperity and peace.
Clarification on Parallel Authority
The chairman addressed reports of a parallel executive, explaining that a group of individuals attempted to appoint themselves into South-west party positions on 31st January 2026. The national secretariat promptly issued a disclaimer and directed them to stop. Despite this, they installed themselves as the South-west executive. Subsequently, approval was granted to constitute a legitimate executive, and an all-Southwest stakeholders’ meeting was held on 10th February 2026. Nominations were made and adopted, following due process, and received approval from the National Caucus on 7th March 2026 and the National Chairman. The current Southwest Executive was duly constituted in line with the party’s constitution.
Unity Reaffirmed
Hon. Omole reiterated that the ADC South-west is one united family with no division whatsoever and remains loyal to the national leadership. He called on all members to ignore malicious reports and focus on the party’s collective goals.
