A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State, Dr. Funso Ayeni, has emerged as the party's candidate for the Ekiti North Senatorial District. He secured the ticket unopposed during a party event over the weekend.
Addressing Party Stakeholders
Dr. Ayeni addressed ADC stakeholders in the Okeijebu area of Ikole Local Government Area, stating that his decision to contest the senatorial seat stems from a desire to represent the people effectively. He criticized the incumbent senator for insufficient performance.
Ayeni emphasized that Ikole Local Government has never held the senatorial seat, alleging that the area has been marginalized. He vowed to break this jinx. "Let me tell you, Ikole people have been yearning for adequate representation, and I am here to provide it. I am not a novice when it comes to representing the people. I am here for you, my Ikole people. Vote for me, and I will not disappoint you," he declared.
Promises and Agenda
The ADC candidate pledged to initiate bills that address the needs of his constituency and to empower the youth in the area. He cited his background as an entrepreneur and philanthropist as assets that will aid his performance.
"I am a grassroots politician. I have been with my people, I know what they want and need. I promise you, I will be there for you come rain or shine. I am here to serve you. Send me to the Senate, and I will represent you well," he added.
Support from Party Leaders
Ayeni was earlier welcomed by a large crowd of supporters in Ikole, who acknowledged his contributions to community development and pledged to back his ambition. The ADC chairman in Ikole Local Government, Mr. Olaiya Oluwasanjo, and party member Mr. Jackson Adebayo urged voters to support Dr. Ayeni for better representation of the senatorial district in the National Assembly.
