The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has elected its immediate past President of the Senate, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, as the new president of the association. The election took place at the NANS convention held in Abuja, where Afeez secured a decisive victory.

Afeez polled 349 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aminu Haruna Maipanpo, who garnered only 12 votes. Another candidate, Odumosu Olumide, received 10 votes in the contest. The overwhelming margin of victory underscores the strong support for Afeez among student delegates.

In his acceptance speech after being declared the winner, Afeez pledged to provide inclusive and responsive leadership for the student body.
