Former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the ongoing primary election across the country as a demonstration of solidarity for the President. Amosun stated this while addressing party members and stakeholders on Saturday during the APC presidential primaries in Ward 6, Itoko, Abeokuta South Local Government Area, where party faithful turned out in large numbers to participate in the exercise.
Amosun Calls for Unity
According to him, "Today is very special. Today is for the President, and we all must come out to show and demonstrate that we are for the President. We are for APC. That is why I am here." The former governor emphasized that the exercise was a reaffirmation of the party's commitment to the President and the progress already made under the APC leadership. "We are here to reaffirm what we have done, and that is what is happening today and across Nigeria, and we have to come and participate. I am happy with our people because you can see they are excited and eager to be part of what is going on," he said.
Party Members United
Former Governor Amosun explained that party members were united in their support for the President, saying, "All of us are speaking with one voice. We are for President Bola Tinubu." Also speaking, the lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Afolabi Afuape, commended residents and party supporters in Ward 6 for their massive turnout, describing it as a strong indication of the President's growing acceptance among the people. Afuape appreciated the supporters for coming out in large numbers to participate in the exercise, which he described as a vote of confidence in President Tinubu's leadership.
Acceptance of President Tinubu
"I want to first thank the people of Ward 6 for turning out en masse to support the hope of the country, our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The turnout today clearly shows the acceptability of our President," he said. He commended Senator Amosun for participating in the exercise, noting that his involvement further demonstrated unity within the party and support for the President. "I also want to appreciate former Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun for taking part in this exercise. It is a good sign that our President is acceptable to all and sundry, and many people here came out to show solidarity with him," Afuape added.
Future Support Assured
He assured party members that Ward 6 would continue to deliver strong support for the APC and President Tinubu ahead of future elections. "We will continue to do our best, and I am confident that this ward will produce one of the highest votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the general election," he said.
