Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has confirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) successfully conducted its governorship direct primary election across the state, resulting in Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Yayi, emerging as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election.
In a statement posted on his social media handle on Wednesday, Abiodun declared that Adeola was “overwhelmingly affirmed” during a peaceful, orderly, and transparent exercise held throughout the state. He described the process as a clear demonstration of the party’s internal democracy and unity.
“Today, we participated in the APC governorship direct primary election across Ogun State where Senator Adeola Yayi was overwhelmingly affirmed as the governorship candidate of our great party for the 2027 general election,” the governor wrote.
Abiodun highlighted that the conduct of the primary underscored the strength and cohesion of the APC in Ogun State. He noted that party members, stakeholders, electoral officials, and security agencies all played vital roles in ensuring the smooth running of the exercise.
According to him, “The exercise was peaceful, transparent, orderly, and a true reflection of the unity and internal democratic strength of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State.”
The governor added that the party is fully united behind Adeola’s emergence and expressed confidence in his candidacy as the 2027 elections approach. He congratulated the senator and reiterated the APC’s dedication to the continued development of Ogun State under the party’s leadership.
“We warmly congratulate Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi on his emergence and reaffirm our collective commitment to the continued progress, stability, and development of Ogun State under the banner of our great party,” Abiodun concluded.
