APC Appoints Anyim Chairman of Presidential Primary Committee

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim as the chairman of its presidential primary election committee. Anyim, who served as Senate President from 2000 to 2003 and later as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) under former President Goodluck Jonathan, will lead the committee responsible for organizing the party's primary election.

Committee Composition

Sanusi Musa, a prominent APC chieftain, has been appointed as the secretary of the committee. The committee also includes five other influential politicians: another former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, and a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, among others.

Governors as State Coordinators

The APC has also appointed all its governors as coordinators of the primaries in their respective states. This includes Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

The party had earlier scheduled its presidential primary for Saturday, May 23, in line with the timetable issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Official Announcement

Felix Morka, the party's spokesperson, announced the development in a statement on Thursday, May 21. He stated that the decisions were approved by the party's National Working Committee (NWC) in accordance with the party's constitution, the Electoral Act, and the APC's commitment to a transparent and credible primary election process.
