The National Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially cleared Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to run for a second term in the 2027 gubernatorial election. This clearance was granted after the governor submitted his nomination form and successfully completed the screening process conducted in Abuja.
Screening and Clearance
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, led by National Chairman Prof. Nantawe Yilwadda, announced the party's affirmation at the Plateau Governor's Lodge. Prof. Yilwadda confirmed that Governor Yusuf met all requirements to contest for a second term. He further disclosed that Yusuf would run unopposed for the APC governorship ticket in Kano State, as he emerged as the sole contender.
Governor's Response
Following the clearance, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the party leadership for their confidence in him to represent the party in the upcoming election. He reiterated his dedication to delivering democratic dividends and sustaining policies that foster peace, economic growth, and inclusive development across Kano State. The governor also urged party members and supporters to remain united and collaborate for the state's progress and victory in 2027.
Support from Stakeholders
Governor Yusuf submitted his nomination form to the APC's NWC in Abuja as the sole candidate for the governorship race. He was accompanied by prominent APC stakeholders from Kano, including Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other dignitaries.
Development Priorities
The governor pledged to expand urban renewal projects across the state, with a focus on road construction, drainage expansion, and market modernization. He emphasized that rural development would remain a key priority, with increased investment in feeder roads, water supply, healthcare centers, and schools in rural communities. Yusuf also promised stronger support for agriculture and empowerment programs for farmers and young people, highlighting that job creation and youth development would be central to his administration's agenda.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and healthcare delivery across Kano State. He stressed that unity, peace, and inclusive leadership are fundamental pillars of his administration.
