The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Oden Ewa and seven other aspirants to contest the party's senatorial primaries in Cross River Central. The clearance was confirmed by the National Organising Secretary (NOS) following the screening exercise held in the state.
Ewa, who previously served as the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, is among those cleared to run. He will face the incumbent Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, who is seeking a third term in the Senate.
The contest in the Central Senatorial District is expected to be fiercely competitive, with Ewa seen as a strong contender offering fresh ideas and a new direction for the district. He enjoys significant support among party leaders and has a large following within the party and the district, owing to his contributions to its development over the years.
Ewa's candidacy has also garnered backing from various youth groups in the area, who view him as a representative who aligns with their aspirations and the demand for new leadership.
Other aspirants cleared for the primaries include Asuquo Ekpenyoung (South), Adans Cecilia Omoniya, Senator Jarigbe Agom, Dr Johna Onyi Agba, and Mary Ogoba Ekpere Eta (North).
