All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has named prominent opposition leaders whom he accused of failing Nigerians. Among those listed are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi, all presidential aspirants under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Okpebholo Defends Tinubu's Performance
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television's "Politics Today" on Thursday, April 30, Okpebholo asserted that President Bola Tinubu's achievements have already secured his victory in the 2027 general elections. He dismissed any notion that opposition figures could pose a threat to Tinubu's re-election bid.
The governor also alleged that the rising insecurity in the country is being fueled by political opponents seeking to discredit the Tinubu administration. He claimed that opposition elements are sponsoring kidnappings and killings ahead of the elections. Okpebholo emphasized that President Tinubu "must win" his second term and rejected the idea that candidates like Obi or Amaechi could challenge him.

- Tobiloba criticized the governor, saying: "When you thought you've had enough of Monday, he will make you want to have him more... Because there's a working Governor in Edo State, Peter Obi will not deliver Anambra? Monday ma pa mi now."
- Rubicon urged Okpebholo to focus on his achievements: "Comot PO for una mouth na… speak more to your accomplishments and vision. Y'all speak so much of the coalition opposition, why are you scared if you've done well for your people?"
- John Ore-oghene questioned the interview: "Did they invite him there to discuss Peter Obi or what he has been doing to develop his state so far? Out of 40 mins in the interview, you will spend 30 mins discussing Obi."

The interview comes amid a leadership crisis within the ADC. The Federal High Court in Abuja recently ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognize or participate in any congress organized by the controversial ADC leadership. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik barred David Mark and other prominent ADC leaders from party activities, fueling further debate as the 2027 elections approach.
