APC Names Yari as Campaign DG for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally constituted its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 general elections, with the full list released on Saturday, August 22, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will chair the council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice chairman. APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda will also serve as vice chairman.

Campaign Council Leadership

The council's leadership includes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Chairman; Vice President Kashim Shettima and Professor Nentawe Yilwatda (APC National Chairman) as Vice Chairmen; Senator Abdulaziz Yari (former Zamfara State governor) as Director-General; Governor Hope Uzodimma as Secretary; Senator Ajibola Bashiru (APC National Secretary) as Deputy Secretary; and Hadiza Bala-Usman as Assistant Secretary.

President Tinubu will be supported by a body of advisers comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

Deputy Directors-General and Zonal Directors

The council also includes Deputy Directors-General: Senate President Godswill Akpabio (South), Speaker Tajudeen Abass (South), Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State (North), Senator Bamidele Opeyemi (South), Senator Jibril Barau (North), Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Mobilisation), the President's Chief of Staff (Administration), and James Abiodun Faleke (Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring).

Zonal Directors in the Election Planning Directorate are Senator Olushola Adeyeye (South West), Dr Ngozi Olejeme (South South), Senator Uche Ekwunife (South East), Muntaqha Rabe (North West), Ahmed Muhammed Ketso (North Central), and Senator Sani Danladi (North East). Secretaries include Ms Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat, and Audu Maikori.

Legal, Media, and Strategic Communication

The Legal Directorate is led by Muiz Adeyemi Banire as Director, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as Deputy Directors. Members include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms, and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

In the Media and Strategic Communication directorate, Coordinating Directors are Mohammed Idris Malagi (Minister of Information and National Orientation), Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Coordinating Deputy Directors are Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala, and Felix Morka. Coordinating Secretaries are Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke, and Frederick Nwabufor. Segun Dada serves as Director of New Media, with Solomon Arowolo as Secretary. Spokespersons include Dele Alake as Lead Spokesperson, Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu, and Adamu Fanda.

Tinubu's Charge to the Council

In a message to the council, President Tinubu said: "We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians. As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet — let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation. Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards."

He also urged directorate leaders to reach out to party members not formally listed, asking them to bring additional hands into the campaign effort.
