North-Central APC Forum Alleges Irregularities in Party Primaries
APC North-Central Forum Cries Foul Over Primaries

The North-Central APC Forum has expressed serious concerns over the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, alleging irregularities in the process. The primaries, which are set to commence with the House of Representatives elections on Saturday, May 16, 2026, were initially scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, but were postponed at the last minute. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced the shift late Thursday without providing an official reason for the delay.

Forum Alleges Delays and Sidelining of Stakeholders

In a statement issued by its Chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, the North-Central APC Forum suggested that the postponement might be linked to concerns about the handling of the primaries. The Forum commended President Bola Tinubu for urging party members to ensure peaceful, transparent, and rancour-free primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, it noted growing unease among party stakeholders in several states over the management of the process, including delays in releasing the list of cleared aspirants.

Call for Fairness and Internal Democracy

The Forum urged the APC leadership to ensure fairness, transparency, and internal democracy to avoid disputes that could undermine party unity before the general elections. It claimed that some influential members in different states feel sidelined in the ongoing process, warning that dissatisfaction among stakeholders could create tensions within the party if not properly addressed.

The statement also referenced reports from Rivers State involving the screening of aspirants allegedly linked to Governor Sim Fubara, while expressing concern that similar complaints may be emerging in other states. The North-Central APC Forum called on the party leadership to address all grievances transparently and ensure a credible primary election process.
