APC Postpones House of Reps Primary by One Day

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its primary election for the House of Representatives, originally scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, to Saturday, May 16, 2026. The adjustment was announced in a revised timetable released by the party and signed by Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary.

According to the updated schedule, all other primary election dates remain unchanged. The Senate primary election is set for Monday, May 18, while the State House of Assembly primary will take place on Wednesday, May 20. The governorship primary election is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, and the presidential primary will hold on Saturday, May 23.

The APC did not provide any official reason for the postponement of the House of Representatives primary. This development comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify their preparations for the 2027 general election, with primaries serving as a critical step in selecting candidates for various elective positions.

The party has urged all stakeholders to adhere to the revised timetable and ensure a smooth electoral process. Political analysts suggest that such adjustments are not uncommon in the lead-up to major elections, often due to logistical or administrative considerations.
