APC Primaries: Bichi, Jibrin Secure Tickets, Farouk Lawan Defeated

The All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Kano State have produced winners for several federal constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections. Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abba Bichi, who represents Bichi Federal Constituency, secured the party's ticket unopposed as the sole candidate.

Similarly, former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, clinched the APC ticket for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency. Other victorious incumbents include Barrister Shehu Muhammad for Fagge Federal Constituency and Abdullahi Muazu Baban Ganduje for Kabo/Gwarzo Federal Constituency. All three were affirmed as candidates through consensus arrangements among party stakeholders.

Reports from the APC state secretariat indicate that Idris Dankawu and Rabiu Ibn Yusuf emerged winners for Kumbotso and Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituencies, respectively. In Gezawa/Gabasawa Federal Constituency, serving lawmaker Hon. Mohammad Nalaraba also secured victory.

However, former House member Hon. Farouk Lawan failed in his bid to secure the APC ticket for Bagwai/Shanono Federal Constituency, losing to Yusuf Badau in a keenly contested primary election.

APC spokesperson in Kano State, Auwalu Soja, confirmed that candidates emerged through consensus in 20 federal constituencies, while elections were conducted in four constituencies where stakeholders could not reach agreements. Results from some constituencies were still being collated at the time of reporting.
