APC Hits 2 Million Digital Members in One Week, Aims for 9 Million
APC Verifies 2 Million Members in Digital Drive

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a significant milestone in its ongoing nationwide membership registration drive, verifying more than two million members digitally within just one week of the exercise's commencement.

Record-Breaking Registration Pace

Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the APC, revealed the impressive figures yesterday in Abuja. He addressed the press following a crucial meeting of the party's National Working Committee (NWC) with state coordinators who are supervising the registration process across the country.

The meeting was jointly led by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Chairman of the APC State Chairmen Forum, Mr Cornelius Ojelabi. Other prominent party leaders from various states were also in attendance to review the progress.

Basiru emphasized that data collection is fundamental to the party's strategy for enhancing operational efficiency. He stated that this digital foundation is critical for driving effective mobilization, organization, and consultation with members.

Target of 9 Million Members

Despite several states not yet operating at full capacity, the party has recorded remarkable success. "As of today, just one week into the exercise, we have over two million Nigerians digitally verified, complete with their names and voter identification numbers," Basiru declared.

He expressed strong optimism about the future trajectory of the registration, adding, "By next week, we expect the figure to rise to between eight and nine million members, by the grace of God."

The sophisticated digital process captures comprehensive demographic details, including gender, occupation, and age. To ensure the integrity of the data, each registration is linked to the member's phone number and official voter identification number.

Chairman's Directive for Total Coverage

In a related development, National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda issued a stern directive to all state coordinators of the electronic registration exercise. He instructed them to ensure that no party member is left unregistered across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Yilwatda delivered this order during a meeting with the State Registration Coordinators at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. He made it clear that the coordinator role is a serious responsibility, not a ceremonial position, aimed at strengthening the party's structures.

The Chairman warned that any coordinator who fails in this duty will be replaced. The coordinators are primarily the State Organising Secretaries of the party, except in cases where an individual was not trained for the specific task.

The ongoing nationwide membership registration and revalidation exercise is scheduled to conclude on January 30, 2026. The APC's push for a fully digitized membership register marks a significant shift in its approach to party management and grassroots engagement in Nigeria's political landscape.
