In a significant political development, a prominent figure within Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dramatically exited the party. Ambassador Mohammed Bomoi, a senior member and key organiser in the North-East, announced his resignation, levelling serious allegations of regional marginalisation against the party's national leadership.

In it, he declared he had formally withdrawn from all activities linked to the Tinubu/Shettima political movement and severed his ties with the APC at the national level. Bomoi served as the Secretary of the APC Special Purpose Committee for the North-East Zone and was a pivotal figure within the Tinubu Support Group during the last election cycle.
He expressed profound dissatisfaction, stating that despite the immense contributions and efforts made by him and other party members across the six states of the North-East—Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, and Yobe—they had been consistently sidelined. Bomoi accused the party's national officials of maintaining an aloof and laissez-faire attitude towards members from the region, effectively leaving them out of crucial party processes.
Allegations of a Broken Social Contract
Bomoi's statement went beyond internal party grievances, touching on broader national issues. He claimed that the ongoing developments under the current federal administration suggest that the entire Northern region is being treated as a "caste." He argued that what he described as the fundamental social contract between the North and the central government has been deliberately abused.
This perceived lack of inclusion and respect, according to him, has completely eroded his confidence in the APC and the political leaders he once vigorously campaigned for. "Consequently, I have no regret leaving my position as Secretary of the APC Special Purpose Committee, North-East Zone," Bomoi stated firmly. He concluded his letter by extending his best wishes to the party and its remaining members.
