The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Taraba State, Danjuma Umaru Shiddi, has called on residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the ballot as the most powerful instrument for democratic change. Shiddi made the call on Thursday in Jalingo, the state capital, shortly after he was affirmed as the consensus governorship candidate of the party for the 2027 elections.
Addressing party supporters, the APGA flagbearer emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process. According to him, citizens who fail to secure their PVCs risk losing their voices in determining the leadership and direction of Taraba State. He noted that democracy thrives when eligible voters participate fully in elections and hold leaders accountable through the power of the ballot.
“The PVC is not just a card; it is the people’s voice and their constitutional right to choose credible leaders,” Shiddi stated. “If we truly desire change, development, and good governance, then every eligible citizen must come out, register, collect their PVCs, and vote.”
Shiddi stressed that peaceful and credible elections remain essential for strengthening democracy in Nigeria, adding that political participation should not be left in the hands of a few individuals. He called on all eligible voters to take ownership of the electoral process and ensure their voices are heard.
Also speaking, APGA National Vice Chairman for the North-East, Aminu Hamanjoda Furo, described the exercise as peaceful and successful. He commended party members, youths, women, and security agencies for maintaining order throughout the process. “Everything went peacefully and successfully. I want to specially appreciate the security operatives, women, youths, and all party faithful who contributed to the success of this exercise,” Furo said.
Furo explained that the exercise was aimed at affirming aspirants contesting various elective positions under the platform of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He expressed confidence that the party would field strong candidates capable of delivering good governance to the people of Taraba State.
