Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is set to present his African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential nomination forms at the party's National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, May 11, 2026.
ADC Announces Atiku's Nomination
In a statement released on Saturday, the ADC confirmed that Atiku had paid for and received his nomination form receipt for the 2027 presidential election. The formal presentation ceremony has been scheduled for Monday at the party's headquarters.
“A New Chapter in Nigeria’s Democratic Journey: H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election,” the statement read. “The formal presentation of nomination forms is expected on Monday at the ADC National Secretariat, Abuja. The movement is growing. Hope is rising. Expect more.”
Significance for the ADC
According to the opposition political party, this development marks another significant moment in the growing movement for national renewal, democratic inclusion, and people-driven leadership within the ADC. As Nigerians continue to seek credible alternatives, the ADC stated that it remains committed to providing a strong platform built on unity, competence, economic recovery, security, and national progress.
Details of the Nomination
One of the two images in the post shows the official ADC receipt for a N90 million presidential nomination fee dated May 8, 2026, along with a promotional poster declaring Atiku as the presidential candidate with the slogan “A Leader. A Vision. A New Nigeria.”
Atiku's Political Move
Atiku left the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ADC in late 2025, making the party a central platform for opposition efforts against President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. This strategic shift is expected to reshape the political landscape as the election approaches.
