In a strategic move to foster unity and strengthen its ranks, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a high-powered committee tasked with resolving internal disputes and enhancing party cohesion. Yobe State Governor, His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, has been appointed as the Chairman of this crucial 14-member committee.
A Mandate for Unity and Strategic Mobilisation
The committee, officially named the Conflict Resolution, Strategy and Mobilisation Committee (CRSMC), was inaugurated in Abuja on Wednesday, 23rd December 2025. The APC National Chairman, Honourable Nentawe Yilwatda, personally oversaw the inauguration, highlighting the critical nature of the assignment.
Yilwatda described Governor Buni as an experienced leader with a deep understanding of party dynamics and conflict origins. "I have an experienced man as the Chairman of this inaugurated committee," Yilwatda stated, noting Buni's firsthand experience with conflicts and his foundational knowledge of the APC.
The National Chairman expressed confidence that Governor Buni will successfully unite party members at the federal, state, and local government levels, bringing everyone under one fold.
Why Governor Buni Was Chosen
The selection of Governor Mai Mala Buni for this sensitive role was portrayed as a deliberate and well-considered decision by the party's leadership, including President Bola Tinubu. Yilwatda praised President Tinubu as a "political juggernaut" and "master strategist" with an uncanny ability to identify the right person for critical assignments.
Buni's credentials for the job are robust. His experience as a former National Secretary of the APC provided him with an intimate understanding of the party's internal workings. This was further bolstered by his tenure as Governor of Yobe State and his previous appointment as Chairman of the party's Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.
This unique combination of experience in both governance and party administration, Yilwatda argued, makes Buni the ideal candidate to navigate complex political interests and manage diverse opinions within the APC.
Composition of the High-Profile Committee
The committee is composed of seasoned politicians and serving governors, bringing together a wealth of experience in political strategy and conflict management. The members are expected to leverage their collective expertise to address existing grievances and anticipate potential threats to party unity.
Other prominent members of the committee include:

- Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman AbduRazak
- Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma
- Governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta)

Buni's Commitment to an Inclusive Strategy
In his acceptance remarks, Governor Mai Mala Buni assured the party leadership of his commitment to the task. He pledged to execute the assignment with utmost responsibility and dedication, emphasizing strategic engagements and wide consultations.
He outlined the committee's primary goal: to "develop an all-encompassing, productive, and result-oriented strategy that will stand the test of time." A key focus, he noted, would be to give all party members, especially those with grievances, a genuine sense of belonging, inclusion, and renewed hope within the APC fold.
The inauguration of this committee signals the APC's proactive approach to managing its internal affairs as it prepares for future political engagements, aiming to present a united and formidable front.
