The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially declared former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Manu Haruna, as its unopposed candidate for the Taraba Central Senatorial District in the upcoming general elections. The announcement came after the party's senatorial primary election, which took place on Monday across the five local government areas that constitute the district.

Peaceful Primary Election

On Tuesday, the returning officer, Engineer Hamza Faruk, announced the results in Bali Local Government Area. He emphasized that the exercise was conducted peacefully and in full compliance with APC guidelines and the Electoral Act. Faruk confirmed that Senator Manu secured a total of 59,009 votes across the district, with no other aspirant contesting against him in the primary.

Breakdown of Votes

The detailed results showed that Sardauna Local Government Area recorded 13,256 votes, Bali Local Government Area contributed 9,904 votes, Kurmi Local Government Area had 6,112 votes, Gassol Local Government Area delivered 21,325 votes, and Gashaka Local Government Area provided 8,412 votes. According to the returning officer, the process reflected strong party consensus and adherence to internal democratic procedures.
